ST Johnstone's Alan Mannus will leave the club at the end of the season. The 35-year-old goalkeeper has told McDiarmid park chiefs he wants to return to Ireland with his family.

What happened?

Mannus joined ST Johnstone from Shamrock Rovers in July 2011 and has made over 200 appearances for the club in all competitions.

Why it matters for ST Johnstone

He was a key member of the team that won the Scottish Cup in 2014. ST Johnstone manager Tommy Wright said: “I spoke to Alan about a month ago and he told me then of his desire to go back to Ireland with his family.

Current context

As of 27 Jun 2026, ST Johnstone are top of the Scottish Championship with 77 points from 36 games, having won their last five matches. Their recent form is: | Category | Value | | --- | --- | | League standing | 1st in Championship | | Points | 77 | | Recent form | 5W-0D-0L | | Lead at the top | 11 points clear of Partick | | Last result | Ayr Utd 0-1 ST Johnstone (2026-05-01) | | Goals this season | 67 scored, 25 conceded |

Mannus has been capped eight times by Northern Ireland. He will follow Steven MacLean out the door in May after the veteran striker completed a pre-contract deal with Hearts. Wright added: “I think it’s safe to say that over the past few years he’s been in the top three or four goalkeepers in Scotland and he’s done tremendously well for the football club.
