ST Johnstone goalkeeper Jonny Tuffey has announced his retirement after a 20-year career, having played for the club on a solitary occasion in a League Cup clash with Queen's Park in 2012. Tuffey was signed by Steve Lomas from Inverness Caledonian Thistle that summer to compete with fellow countryman and fellow internationalist Alan Mannus for the No.1 jersey at McDiarmid Park after Peter Enckelman had left. The Northern Irishman's solitary appearance for the Saints came in a 2-1 defeat to Queen's Park in the last-16 of the League Cup in September 2012. Tuffey's retirement brings an end to a 20-year career that has seen him play for several clubs, including Inverness Caledonian Thistle and St Mirren. The goalkeeper has also represented Northern Ireland at international level, earning several caps for his country. ST Johnstone fans will remember Tuffey's solitary appearance for the club, which came in a disappointing defeat to Queen's Park. Despite his short time at the club, Tuffey will always be remembered as a member of the ST Johnstone squad. The club wishes Tuffey all the best in his retirement and thanks him for his service to the team.
