ST Johnstone youngster Callan Hamill has completed a trial with Arsenal, joining training and playing an academy friendly. The 15-year-old kicked things off with a training session with the Arsenal academy, before visiting the Emirates Stadium. Hamill has since shared on his Instagram story that he took part in an academy friendly to complete the week. The trial took place this week, with Scout Appreciation on Twitter reporting that the friendly was a mix of Arsenal u15 and u16s, playing against St. Albans City FC. With Arsenal winning 4-1, it was a good way to cap things off for Hamill. ST Johnstone reportedly rate Hamill highly, and they remain keen for him to sign a professional contract when he's eligible next year. The youngster is a Scotland u15 international as well as playing for ST Johnstone's youth teams, making his international youth debut in late 2023. Hamill has gone on to feature for the Scotland u15s four times, all of which were starts at centre-back, but he can also operate as a full-back. Alistair Stevenson, the head of ST Johnstone's youth academy, said Hamill played the whole game against Spain in April and acquitted himself well. Hamill was up against top players who will all be playing with big clubs in the Spanish youth leagues. The Athletic confirm that the visit is with a view to a transfer next summer, when he'll be eligible for the move to England. Rangers and Celtic are also interested in the signing.
