St Johnstone's defensive issues are a major talking point ahead of their home game against Falkirk this weekend. The Perth side have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 12 Scottish Premiership matches, a run that includes all six of their league games this season.
That is their longest sequence without a shutout in the top division since a 15-game stretch back in December 2012. It is a key factor in their current league position of seventh, where they have taken seven points from two wins, one draw and three defeats.
Josh Fowler has been the standout performer in front of goal, responsible for half of the team's league tally. He has scored four of their eight Premiership goals this term, the highest proportion of any player for a single club in the division. Fowler netted both goals in the recent 2-1 victory over Hibernian.
This will be the first top-flight meeting between the sides since the 2009-10 campaign. St Johnstone avoided defeat in all four contests that season, winning two and drawing two. Falkirk, who sit 10th, are winless in their last five away league outings but did beat Livingston 2-1 in February. A win over St Johnstone would give them back-to-back top-flight victories over promoted sides for the first time since November 2007.
Leandro Trossard's side will look to improve a recent form line that reads one win, one draw and three losses from their last five outings. Their next match is at home to Falkirk on Saturday, 19 September.
